The Tung Chung fort

Dating back to 1832, the Tung Chung fort is a declared heritage site of Hong Kong. Resting on the Lantau Island, Tung Chung fort’s granite block resting at the entrance calls out the history of the fort. It was briefly occupied by the British forces during WWII. The fort still retains its historic bulwarks and the six granite canons that are stationed on top facing the sea.

Hong Kong is blessed with a consistent shoreline. Its riverside areas stand out due to their natural beauty that has been beautifully preserved and outlasts other riverside areas in the world.

Sai Kung

Located in the southern part of Sai Kung peninsula and New Territory, Sai Kung is the largest district of Hong Kong. Sai Kung is a paradise of pristine blue waters and white sandy beaches. The most famous area here is the Sai Kung town which is overflowing with seafood markets and popular eating spots. The volcanic rock columns of the High Island reservoir are a feast for the eyes.

Shek O

Shek O is situated in the south eastern parts of Hong Kong. Lined with colourful houses, familiar neighbourhoods and stupendous scenic coasts it is famous for the Big Wave Beach area and Dragon’s back hiking trail. It is also the cleanest beach in Hong Kong.

Aberdeen

Situated in the south western part of Hong Kong, Aberdeen was famous as an area where the fishermen lived in the 1960s and 1970s. It was a fish town and the Tanka community lived here. Historically, Aberdeen is the first place where the British arrived in 1841. The most famous attractions of this place are the floating restaurants.

And you thought Hong Kong is only about gorgeous sky scrapers and plush shopping malls. No! It has thousands of scenic beaches and sea coasts that offer a calm refuge away from the melee of city life.

Tai Pin Chau

If you enjoy rock climbing and are awestruck by rocky stone formations, head to Tai Pin Chau. This lone scenic spot is a beautiful landscape scattered all over with sedimentary rock formations. It is a protected UNESCO Global Geopark and has a diverse biological scene.

Middle Islands

Middle Islands area is home to luxury yachts. You can hop on to one of the free rides offered by the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club.

Tap Mun

Tap Mun is one of the most beautiful parks of the Sai Kung district. Head there to enjoy panoramic views of the grass laden hillocks.

Tian Tan Buddha

The mighty bronze statue of the Buddha rests at the Lantau islands. Hailed as the largest Buddha statue in the world, it was completed in 1993. To reach the main podium where the 112-foot-tall statue rests you need to climb the 268 steps lining the raised structure.  

Sai Wan swimming shed

The Sai Wan swimming shed is a real hidden gem. Its beauty doubles at the time of sunset. Situated at Mount Davis in Hong Kong, it is the only remaining shed of the city built sometime around the 1950s. Swimming sheds were a popular concept in early Hong Kong as relieving retreats for the locals and tourists to relax and unwind while taking a dip in the primeval blue waters of the island city.

Dolphin Watch in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is home to a rare endangered species of the Dolphins. Called the pink dolphins, it’s a real marvel to watch them jump and frolic around in the waters. The Sha Chau and Lung Kwu Chau Marine parks offer exclusive Dolphin watching cruises for visitors.
